Anglican Aid Abroad - Non-profit Society for Those in Need Home Galleries Our History How We Work Newsletter You Can Help Contact Us Welcome to Anglican Aid Abroad A voluntary, non-profit society who share a common concern for those in need and are united in a common cause - the relief of need in the Name of Christ. Send gifts directly to those in need. You too can become a MISSIONARY OF ST. ANDREW. What does Anglican Aid Abroad (AAA) do? Here is just some aspects of your work… Our Projects Education Be it in the Dominican Republic in the West Indies or the Highlands of Tanzania in East Africa, education is a high priority for AAA. In the 31 countries where AAA has co-workers; projects such as schools, provision of school fees, uniforms and other school requirements and even supplying food to kept young minds alert and active are part of our activities. For youth and adults, literacy classes, and everything from lessons in better agriculture to classes in sewing and soap making are giving people a better chance in life. Poverty Alleviation Skills acquired through education needs to be put to good use. AAA co-operates with local co-workers to supply livestock, land for village co-operatives, equipment ranging from sewing machines to breeder goats. One village in Congo set up a co-operative farm to help maintain the school we built and pay the teachers. Widows in Ghana are being taught to make liquid soap and a sewing school in Cameroon is providing a livelihood for women in two locations. These are just a few successes. Drinking Water This necessity for life is not readily available in most developing countries and AAA has a special fund for this purpose, the two “w’s” water tanks and wells, are basic necessities and we respond to requests from around the world. Tanks have been provided, mostly in Pacific nations and wells in Africa. Each year we send money to Haiti, poorest country in the Americas, to help maintain a pumping system, which brings water from distant clean mountain stream to two villages. Where needed, water is a priority. Medical Wherever we have co-workers; health is one of the issues that looms large in their requests. Some hospitals and clinics have been ‘adopted’ and appear on the AAA budget, as do some AIDS care and prevention organisations. Other health projects we send a “one-off’ donation. The need is so vast; it is not possible for any charity to do more. Our first ‘health’ donation went to the Polio care Hospital for Children in Tanzania at Kwa Mkono in 1977 and a gift still goes every year. Click the map below to view specific areas of the world supported by Anglican Aid Abroad Thank You.. Our gifts sent to a wide range of charitable activities overseas were just a little under $340,000 and the total for the past two years is just short of $700,000. The communities benefits are many and the children go on to do things that their parents have never imagined could happen. Latest News Anglican Aid Abroad does not conduct appeals by phone.
